“This book is dedicated to the voices inside my head, the most remarkable of my friends. And to my wife, who lives with us.”
Fredrik Backman, Anxious People

It is an absolute pleasure to be working for Scarborough Library! I come from a family of passionate library supporters: my aunt was the children's librarian at Bangor Public Library and my mom taught drama at Deering High School, often bringing her students to local libraries to perform short plays for kids. I've previously worked in college and university libraries, where I coordinated student employees in place of community volunteers. Years ago, I started my MLIS degree—being at Scarborough may inspire me to finish it!

Like a lot of people who work in the library world: I love reading, but I also love data. Here's a rough breakdown of my reading:

  • 40% escapist page turners/cozy reads with authors like Leigh Bardugo, Lucy Foley, Ali Hazelwood, Emily Henry, and TJ Klune in heavy rotation.
  • 30% books read aloud to my kids. We loved The Wild Robot books and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
  • 20% meatier fiction or literary nonfiction with authors like Louise Erdrich, Nathan Hill, Kazuo Ishiguro, Emily St. John Mandel, and Celeste Ng.
  • 10% nonfiction, often on audiobook and typically about nature or psychology.
