Reading Goals

A Message from the Director --

Early January 2024

Reading more books is always a goal for me, or a “resolution” to match the theme of the new year. But I am a very picky reader and have always been. As a child it was strictly Mad Magazine and Beverly Cleary, then Stephen King as I got older. These days my tastes run to very obscure subjects, and Minerva, our online card catalog rescues me when I am in the depths of a book funk.

About a year ago, I found Bee People and the Bugs They Love by Frank Mortimer at the bookstore in Damariscotta. So, I requested it on Minerva (opting to buy a cookbook, instead), and that one book that fit my mood was shipped to my library from a library up north! With Minerva, you can request books from dozens of other libraries on your device at home. We will notify you when it’s ready to pick up! Feel free to ask us how it works, and we will happily show you.

Happy New Year!
