The Wire Today

The Wire, The New Commons Project, Panel Dialogue, Humanities

The Wire Today: A Panel Discussion with Scholars Jason Mittell and Brian Purnell. The New Commons Project is a public humanities initiative of the University of Maine Farmington in partnership with the Maine Humanities Council. We are honored to host The Commons' conversation of the acclaimed HBO series, The Wire, written by David Simon and described as a “novel for television”. Professors Jason Mittell (Middlebury College) and Brian Purnell (Bowdoin College) will examine this seminal work’s depiction of the African American experience in a gritty Urban environment, and the filmography and writing structure used to enhance the series’ narrative. This event is free to attend. You can find complete seasons of The Wire on Minerva.
