Minecraft Miner Day

Minecraft Miner Day, Scarborough Public Library

Offered every 4th Sunday of the month! Explore the Library’s Minecraft world created by our volunteer “tech teens!” We’ll begin with a session just for beginners at 1:00 PM, then everyone can join in starting at 2:00 PM. If you’ve created your own Minecraft world, bring it along to show others on our big screen! Computers will be available, or you can bring your own laptop. No sign up is needed—just drop in!

Next gathering is March 25. Join us for our monthly Scarborough Public Library Genealogy Group. Whether you are just starting to explore your heritage or well into the process, this “drop in” gathering will introduce you to vetted resources for ancestral research. Don Taylor will be the group's facilitator, bringing a wealth of experience in Internet research and genetic genealogy.

Library Night at Scarborough Pat's Pizza, Fun-raiser, benefit for Scarborough Public Library

Take a night off from cooking and benefit the Library at the same time! Tuesday, April 9 is Scarborough Public Library Night @ Pat's Pizza, located at 209 US-1 here in Scarborough. From 4pm to Closing, a percentage of all purchases - dine-in or take-out - will be donated to our Library to support services. The event takes place during National Library Week, so it's the perfect opportunity to celebrate. Hope you can join us for this "fun-raising" event!

Our library is celebrating Citizen Science Day the afternoon of Saturday, April 13, 2019 with a community Megathon! Check our Megathon page for more information! This annual event invites people of ALL AGES to collect, share, or analyze data to help scientists address local or global questions. This year’s intergenerational online Megathon will focus on advancing Alzheimer’s research.

Ann P. Hammond: On Higgins Beach

We are pleased to welcome poet Ann P. Hammond back to the Library for a reading of selected works from her recently published collection, On Higgins Beach. Ann’s words will be paired with breathtaking photographs of Scarborough’s natural beauty taken by Dr. Kristine Hoyt, a world traveler and familiar presenter of many “Armchair Traveler” series offered at the Library.  Ann believes it’s never too late to find one’s passion.
