Maine based author and photographer, Jeffrey Ryan, will join us for a travelogue and discussion of his acclaimed book, Appalachian Odyssey: A 28-Year Hike on America’s Trail. In 1985, Jeff began “section hiking” the Appalachian Trail with a childhood friend, taking 28 years to complete the journey. Inspired by his trail journals, Appalachian Odyssey is not a “how to” guide, but an enduring story told through a refreshing blend of history, photography, and wit. Jeff’s presentation will include photographs taken on the trail. Ryan is also the author of the recently published book, Blazing Ahead: Benton MacKaye and Myron Avery and the Rivalry that Built the Appalachian Trail. This event is free to attend and open to the public. Copies of both books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
