Join us virtually, via Zoom, for an evening with Jere Michelson, Scarborough resident and author of Deadly Account, a crime thriller and coming of age story set in Portland. Learn how Michelson, a very busy professional and community leader, found time to write this novel and hear a little about the others that will follow.
Cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory. At least one of these represents a Deadly Account. The audit function ultimately – and gravely – exposes a client as a Deadly Account. These coalesce to form the foundation for relating a Deadly Account of murder and mayhem. Oftentimes there is no need to look for trouble – trouble looks for you. It appears Jon Kirouac Williams, a fresh-faced new auditor working in Portland, Maine’s largest regional public accounting firm, leads a conventional existence. That is, until he bears witness to an unspeakable tragedy while walking toward his downtown office building the firm shares with Portland Bank and Trust.
Michelson is President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer of Libra Foundation, with oversight responsibility for all operating and financial aspects of the Foundation's interests. This is his first novel. Prior to joining Libra Foundation, Jere was a member of the management group at the accounting firm of Baker Newman Noyes, LLC in Portland. In 2001, he left public accounting to join Libra Foundation in its pursuit for the betterment of Maine's citizenry. Michelson is Chairman of Maine Medical Center, a Trustee of MaineHealth, and serves on the Military Service Academy Selection Committee for the first district of Maine.
