It is the mission of the Scarborough Public Library to provide the community access to information, education and recreation. It is the responsibility of the Scarborough Library to make information, services, and resources available to all patrons.
To ensure the ability of the Scarborough Library to fulfill its mission, no patron shall engage in behaviors prohibited by the rules of the Library Board of Trustees.
Library policy does not prohibit quiet conversation between patrons and/or staff or conversations required to carry on library programs or business. It is desirable to preserve a reasonably quiet atmosphere where library patrons may read, study and otherwise use the library without disturbance.
The library staff has been charged by the Board of Trustees with the responsibility to enforce these rules to ensure that the rights of all individuals to use the library are upheld.
