Morning Book Discussion - Life in a Jar

Life in a Jar book cover

During World War II, Irena Sendler, a Polish Catholic social worker, organized a rescue network of fellow social workers to save 2,500 Jewish children from certain death in the Warsaw ghetto. Incredibly, after the war her heroism, like that of many others, was suppressed by communist Poland and remained virtually unknown for 60 years. Then, a group of Kansas teenagers turned it into a history project and  play called Life in a Jar.

Teen Midsummer Party, Teen Summer Reading

Join us on Wednesday, August 8 to close out our weekly summer teen events. At this party, we will share favorite books read over the summer, design your own album cover, make your own ice cream sundae, all while listening to the music you created using GarageBand. All who have reached the assigned reading goal, bring your Reading Log to get a Certificate of Completion and free book. Pre-registration is required

It’s 1899 in New York, and the scion of an Old Money family and his English wife are opening their extravagant new home for a ball. In the midst of the festivities, tragedy strikes the seemingly happy couple. Bayard Van Duyvil is found dying of a stab wound, and his wife Annabelle has disappeared. As Bayard’s sister sets out to solve the murder, the family’s many secrets start to come out.
