Retro Summer Series,  Woodstock, Documentary

The Library's Retro Summer Series commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Apollo 11 moon landing, and Woodstock festival. From August 15 to August 18, 1969, more than 400,000 people decended onto Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm near White Lake in Bethel, New York -  43 miles southwest of Woodstock - for the Woodstock Music and Art Festival.

Read ME on Maine Calling

Read ME, Maine Humanities Council, Maine State Library

Read ME, a statewide summer reading program of the Maine Humanities Council and Maine State Library, will culminate with a live broadcast of Maine Calling hosted by Jennifer Rooks. Rooks will interview author Tess Gerritsen, who selected this year’s Read ME titles, and Read ME authors, Susan Conley and Sarah Perry. The radio program will be broadcast live from the Bangor Public Library and can be heard on MPBN 90.1 or streamed on MPBN’s website.

Timothy Burris: The Poetry of the French Lute

Timothy Burris, Poetry of the French Lute, Early Music, Concert

We are very pleased to welcome Timothy Burris back to Scarborough for an evening of early music staged in the center of the Library. The French lute tradition of the 17th century was remarkable for the quality of the music and the honor accorded the leading lutenists of the day. But the lute tradition was also noteworthy for the influence it had on the broader music culture of the time–particularly keyboardists.
