French Conversation Group, Scarborough Public Library

All levels of French speakers are welcome. Expand your speaking skills by practicing the language in a welcoming atmosphere. This month library staff will demonstrate Transparent Language and other online language learning resources. Bring your library card, if you are a Scarborough Public LIbrary cardholder. African Drumming for Kids

African Drumming for Kids, Grades 2-5

Join Annegret Baier, percussion teacher, West African Drummer, and solo artist for a fun, interactive African drumming program for children in Grades 2-5. An adult must also be present. Explore rhythms and dance from West Africa on Djembe drums and other rhythmic instruments! Pre-registration required. There are a few spots left! Call Youth Services at 883-4723 opt.

Northern Stars Planetarium

The Star Lab from Norther Stars Planetarium

We're excited to welcome Northern Stars Planetarium back to the library!  A Star Lab (like the one pictured) will be installed in the center of the library for the show "Sandy, Pepper and the Eclipse" -- a look a the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun.  Your teacher will be an animated golden retriever named Sandy.  Sign up is required.

Monday Movie Matinee - Marshall

Long before he sat on the United States Supreme Court or claimed victory in Brown v. Board of Education, Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) was a young attorney for the NAACP. Marshall is the true story of his greatest challenge in those early days - his defense of black chauffeur Joseph Spell (Sterling K. Brown) who was accused by his white employer of sexual assault and attempted murder. Rated PG-13; 119 minutes.
