Mindfullness Play Time, play stations, Scarborough Public Library,

Join us for this special play-based family time from 9:30am to 11am. Bring your wee ones - from birth to age 5 - and explore developmental “play stations.” As you move through the stations, pre-school educator Kate Williams-Hewitt will share verbal exercises useful in mediating child conflict resolution and encouraging child to child communication.This event is free to attend.

Stonewall Uprising: Documentary and Discussion

Retro Summer Series, Stonewall Uprising, Film and Discussion

The Library's Retro Summer Series commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Apollo 11 moon landing, and Woodstock festival. On June 28, 1969, a gay club located in Greenwich Village in New York City - the Stonewall Inn - was raided by New York City police. The event sparked a riot that would lead to six days of protests and violent clashes in neighboring streets of the Stonewall Inn and in nearby Christopher Park.

Kid Giddy Banners of Hope

Banners of Hope, Kid Giddy, Scarborough Public Library, Summer Reading

Kerry Goulder, founder of Kid Giddy, will guide children ages 8 and up in creating personalized Banners of Hope. Parents/guardians are asked to join them as sewing is involved. The Banners of Hope Project features fabric-based banners that express messages of hope and encouragement in an artistic format. The banners will hang in the Youth Room over the summer.
