Ann P. Hammond: On Higgins Beach

Poet Ann P. Hammond, On Higgins Beach, National Poetry Month

We are pleased to welcome poet Ann P. Hammond back to the Library for a reading of selected works from her recently published collection, On Higgins Beach. Ann’s words will be paired with breathtaking photographs of Scarborough’s natural beauty taken by Dr. Kristine Hoyt, a world traveler and familiar presenter of many “Armchair Traveler” series offered at the Library.  Ann believes it’s never too late to find one’s passion. Through the support of her mentor, author and poet Molly Peacock, Ann found her calling for writing poetry in the years following her retirement as an educator. Early published works drew from her vivid memories of childhood in England during World War II. Her most recent compilations, Sea Wings and On Higgins Beach were inspired by the coastal beauty of Maine where Ann now makes her home. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
