This week’s New York Times Best Seller List for Young Adult books has John Green’s Paper Towns as #1. Actually, four of John Green’s books are on the list of 10 best sellers: Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, Looking for Alaska, and The Fault in Our Stars. After the success of the movie, The Fault in Our Stars, rumor has it that all John Green’s books may be made into movies. John Green writes realistic fiction. Eight of the ten best sellers this week are this genre.
What a huge difference from a few months ago when Dystopian novels ruled the list: Divergent, Hunger Games, Maze Runner, etc. Those books also had successful movie adaptations.
Hmmmm…does the popularity of movies drive book buying? Could be.
Now, I am a fan of realistic fiction and a huge John Green fan. I love his books, and I just listened to the audiobook of Looking for Alaska, which I read years ago
